Tell us about yourself. Who you are, where you live and a
little bit about you and what you do in your spare time.
Hi, my name is Stacy and I live in North Essex. I was born in Taiwan but move to the
UK quite a few years ago to study textile design. I stayed ever since and moved around
a bit before settling in South of Cambridge. I am married but have no children yet. I only have
to look after my cat at the moment. He’s quite the needy one and follows me everywhere, so it
sometimes turns into a full-time job.
What do you make?
I make fashion accessories, including bags, purses & wristlets.
How & when did you get started designing & making?
Although design has been part of my life for some time now through my studies, I’ve only started to
design and make items for sale about a year ago.
What venues / websites do you sell from?
I like to attend the craft fairs organised by
Handm@de Fairs. But my main outlets are online stores
Etsy.com,
Folksy.com and
Dawanda.com. My designs
are also stocked by a few retailers in the US and UK.
What / who inspires your work?
Anything and everything. But I always try to see the practical side of things.
What are your plans for Yunisacs for the next 12 months?
My plan is to continue to run yunisacs as I do now, and take things as they come. I do intend however to be more open
to wholesale, something that I have passed on up until
now for fear of losing the possibility of changing materials as often as I like.
What marketing tips do you have for other artists, designers,
crafters & makers?
I don't feel that I am truly in a position to give others advice, but I would say that an important aspect
of selling your craft is selling yourself
through any mean available, such as blog, advertisement, paid for feature, etc.
